In the new study, Dr. Glenn R. Cunningham, a researcher at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, and colleagues analyzed data on 470 older men 65 years or above. Old people appear low sexual desire. In a period of 12 months period, participants received a testosterone gel (the most common testosterone therapy) or a placebo gel. All participants were asked to take questionnaires about sexual function at the beginning of the study, at 3-month intervals and at the end of the study. compared with the placebo group,in the testosterone-treated group, 10 of the 12 items on sexuality were significantly improved, including sex frequency, number of nocturnal erections, and masturbation. Placebo groups participants in each index did not change in 12 months.
Dr. Cunningham said low testosterone is the main reasons for low sexual desire in middle-aged and old men, men with such symptoms should detect testosterone levels.
